    Introduction

Cocoa butter is natural.  It is a type of vegetable fat.  It is extracted from whole cocoa beans. Cocoa butter is very similar to chocolate. It has cocoa flavour and aroma.  The melting point is just below human body temperature. Cocoa beans are fermented, dried, roasted, and then pressed. The remaining portion is turned into cocoa powder.

Cocoa butter contains high fatty acids, which has the ability to hydrate and nourish the skin and also improves elasticity.  Sadly, cocoa butter is becoming increasingly costly.   All ingredients like sugar, milk powder and fats used as cocoa butter substitutes have increased in price. White chocolate, Milk chocolate, Dark chocolate has cocoa butter as major ingredients.

Cocoa butter protects skin to hold in moisture and is also rich in natural plant compounds called phytochemicals. Cocoa butter is a pure, stable fat that is probably best known for its presence in body and face lotions. As it has increasing health awareness, cocoa butter is becoming popular as a key element of natural skincare.  In addition, due to its texture and long shelf life, cocoa butter is used as an ingredient in skin-care products.

Cocoa butter is a common active ingredient in lotions, creams, and lip balms

How does Cocoa Butter Feel Like?

Cocoa butter has a sweet aroma that suggests chocolate. The scent is stronger than the taste. The texture of cocoa butter is like coconut oil and coconut butter combined.  It is very moisturizing and melts on your hand.

Cocoa butter has the main ingredient as in chocolate. Chocolate is a mixture of cocoa butter and cocoa powder, often used with milk and sugar.  This is where the sweet, chocolaty feel comes from.

How is cocoa butter useful  for Skin Care?

Cocoa butter is an ingredient in body lotions and creams. As it is safe to eat, it can also be used in lip balms. Many cocoa butter products have added sunscreen or vitamins.  As a medical treatment, rubbing cocoa butter on your skin or lips every day becomes a part of the skin care routine.

Combine cocoa butter with various oils such as coconut or vitamin E oil.  This can be used as a moisturizing shampoo or shaving lotion.

Cocoa butter is ideal for beauty-care products since it stays solid at room temperature.  It is also nontoxic and melts at body temperature.  Cocoa butter also contains naturally occurring antioxidants.  This increases the shelf life of cocoa butter. Cocoa butter feels velvety smooth on the skin, making it perfect for salves, lotions, lip balm, and some types of makeup.

    Benefits of cocoa butter

Cocoa has several healthful properties, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. These properties are due to substances that cocoa powder contains, such as catechin

The following sections will explore the benefits of cocoa butter.

    1. Encourages skin health

Products have several benefits for skin health, such as dry skin and improves skin elasticity.  Moisturizers and anti-aging creams contain cocoa butter.

Cocoa contains several antioxidants, which are a group of plant-derived chemicals. These help towards having a healthy and well nourished skin.  It also protects the skin from sun damage.

    2. Moisturizing the skin

Cocoa butter is a core ingredient in many skin moisturizers. Some people use pure cocoa butter to help relieve dry skin and itchiness.

Like other natural moisturizers, cocoa butter is mostly made up of fatty acids.  Cocoa butters form a protective layer on the skin.  This prevents moisture from being lost and therefore stopping the skin from drying.

    3. Prevents stretch marks

Cocoa butter may also prevent stretch marks from developing, especially during pregnancy.   Due to it’s smoothening properties, it is also good for smoothing out stretch marks.

How do you use Go Eco Love Butter for tender looking, moisturized skin ?

    Take a daily shower

    1. Pat your skin dry with clean cloth.  Don’t completely dry yourself.
    2. Do not rub your skin harshly.  Leave a little moisture on your skin
    3. Apply and massage in circular motions a small amount of body butter as required on the skin areas  i.e elbows, hands, legs, knees, feet as well as the skin folds.
    4. Remember, it’s better to add the butter little by little than using a lot from the beginning. So you are going to be using the layering technique here.
    5. For the best result, apply the second layer on the affected areas after you see that the initial application has been absorbed by your skin.  Your skin will not have the oily look once the body butter is absorbed.
    6. Try to apply it at night before sleeping as this will help to soften your skin.
    7.  After applying, cover up with cotton socks or gloves or cotton clothing.
