Essential oils – what are they? How to use them? 7 Benefits to them.

Essential oils and the oils for Living! Life your life through essential oils.  Be Young and Vibrant.

Essential oils are a form of alternative medicine.  Essential oils are extracted from plants made from flowers, leaves, and seeds.  They are obtained through distillation or applying mechanical techniques, such as cold pressing.  The chemicals are extracted first and then are mixed with oil.

Essential oils  support health and well-being.  They have a lot of health benefits.  They have properties that can treat certain skin conditions.   This is why they are called oils for the living.

The plant’s scent, flavor, or “essence” gives it the name “essential” oil.

    How do essential oils work?

Essential oils are used in aromatherapy and are inhaled through various methods.  You can also apply them to your skin.  However, essential oils should not be swallowed.

The chemicals in essential oils can interact with your body in several ways.  Some plant chemicals are absorbed when essential oils are applied to your skin.  This also gives the skin a nice aroma.

    Benefits of Essential Oils
    1. Essential oils have benefits for different skin types.

Dry skin: Dry skin can occur during certain times  as well as in dry or less humid climates.   There could also be underlying skin issues.   Dry skin is often treated with creams and moisturizers.  Go Eco Love’s body butters are excellent for treating dry skin.  However, essential oils can also provide soothing relief.

Oily skin: Humidity, heat, and hormones can make your skin oily.  Essential helps relieve issues and proboily skin.

    1. Acne-prone skin conditions: Inflammation can be another contributing factor to acne breakouts. The inflammation occurs because pores are clogged or there is bacteria built up.  Essential oil removes excess oil and bacteria without drying the skin.    Essentials oils help with multiple skin diseases.
    2. Skin rash:  Essential oils have the ability to balance skin moisture.   This reduces itchiness and skin rashes.
    3. Pigmentation:  Essential oils help even out your skin tone and may be used as a serum.  This smoothening and evening of skin effect helps towards scars or age spots from sun exposure, and acne.
    4. Mature skin and Anti-aging: Part the aging process, skin naturally loses elasticity and collagen.  This leads to fine lines and wrinkles.
    5. Essential Oils can improve absorption.   The process is better when heat is applied.  Plus, different areas of the body have different absorption rates.
    6. Inhaling the aromas from essential oils can stimulate areas of your limbic system.  This system is a part of your brain.  It plays a role in emotions, behaviors, sense of smell, and long-term memory.  The limbic system also controls things such as breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure.
    How to use essential oils

Essential oils are directly applied on the body.   Avoid eye contact.

Before applying on a larger area of skin, try testing a small patch of skin.  This is called patch testing.  You need to place a small amount of essential oil on your skin.  Then wait 24 hours to check for an allergic reaction.  If there are no reactions, you can go ahead and apply more.  If not, avoid.

While treating skin conditions, dilute essential oils with oil such as almond oil or olive oil, then massage into your skin until it is fully absorbed.

Taking a bath in essential oils helps to work for a variety of skin conditions. especially if you’re trying to treat hard-to-reach areas like your back.  Add 10 drops of oil to a running bath and soak in it.  You can use Go Eco Love’s Himalayan and Epsom salts with essential oils to have a spa-like bath.

In addition, most natural skincare products contain essential oils as part of the ingredients.  This means by using these skin care products, you are already using essential oils.  Just do check the label to make sure the ingredients list essential oils.
